
Los Llanos... Anacondas, piranhas, horseback ridding, lots of wildlife and bird watching
The Venezuelan plains locally known as 'Los Llanos' are considered to be one of the largest reservoirs of wildlife in the Americas, and its flatlands and swamps are only comparable to the Brazilian Pantanal and the Everglades in Florida. So besides this amazing landscape you are also going to be able to see hundreds of species of birds, big reptiles such as the spectacled caiman and the green Anaconda, turtles, mammals such as the giant anteater, the tamandua and the largest rodent in the world: The Capybara. We invite you to come with us to discover the Apure state, the largest of the Llanos region and the one with the highest concentration of wildlife.
Day to day program

1.- Day: Departure from Coro towards la Sierra de San Luis the mountain range south of the city continuing towards Barquisimeto to reach Acarigua, then Guanare and Barinas. Stop for lunch in Guanare. Arrival at the camp in the evening, lodging and dinner.
2.- Day: Welcome to the low Llanos of Apure state! In the morning after breakfast we'll go on a boat trip to the river Guaritico, during this boat safari you'll be able to see fresh water dolphins, ospreys, spectacled caimans, many species of birds like egrets, herons, ibises, hawks, eagles, sunbittern; with a bit of luck we can also see monkeys and even otters.
Afterwards we'll return to our camp, have lunch, a rest, and departure then on a safari in order to search for some of the wildlife that live in this savannas, with luck we'll see capybaras, anteaters, caimans and the green anaconda and some other snakes, we'll also take some time to do birdwatching. At late afternoon return to camp where a hot dinner will be waiting for us.
3.- Day: After breakfast we will approach the savanna in a different way: Horseback riding, an activity that offer great chances of observation of wildlife since animals don't run away from horses as they do from cars. This activity, lasts all morning long. Return then for lunch, rest and we'll be leaving for a second safari in the afternoon. The main activity will be piranha fishing and then the search of animals we didn't see the day before. At late afternoon return to the camp and dinner. We can organize a party with "Joropo" music upon request of all participants in the group.
4.- Day: Departure from Los Llanos back to Coro, upon request we can leave participants at strategic places for them to continue their travel around the country, or if all are going to the same destination, a transfer service can then be arrange with an extra fee.
