The Canaima National Park in southeast Venezuela, covers one of the oldest geological regions in the world. The unique flattop mountains known as Tepuys are as old as the separation of the continents itself. It have been cataloged as a resemblance of a lost world, giving us an impression on how the land looked millions of years ago. It has been declared a UNESCO heritage site and with it's 30.000 km2 is the sixth largest national park in the world and yet home, to another world class record: THE ANGEL FALLS, the highest waterfall, known by the Pemón indigenous people as »Kerepapukay Vena« offers to the visitor an impressive sight: 1000 meters of  clear water falling on an spectacular sandstone wall in the middle of a jungle lush vegetation!

Araguato Expeditions offers you three different ways to visit this unique region, land of Tepuys and the Pemon indigenous people. They will depend mainly on the available time on your itinerary. All tours described start and end in Ciudad Bolivar and we can provide you with all the necessary means of transportation to get you there from anywhere in Venezuela.

AVAILABLE TOURS TO CANAIMA & ANGEL FALLS:

 

1.- CANAIMA & ANGEL FALLS | RIVER TOUR TO THE BASE OF THE ANGEL FALLS 3D/2N

Length: 3 days and 2 nights
Difficulty: Easy - All travelers
On this option you will get the most of the highlights  of the park, take a bath at the Canaima Lagoon, walk under the Sapo Falls, sleep in front of the Auyan Tepuy and the Angel Falls, if weather permits even swim at the base of the fall! navigate on the Carrao River surrounded by Tepuys and marvelous landscapes. It you have the time... go for it! It's definitively worth it!
Day to day program: 
  1. Day 1: In the morning transfer to the airport of Ciudad Bolivar and flight to Canaima in a five-seat light plane. After an one hour flight you will arrive at the beautiful Canaima Lagoon where you will start to explore marvelous beaches and the indigenous community of Canaima, home to Pemon tribes. After lunch boat trip across the Canaima Lagoon to see its breathtaking waterfalls: Hacha, La Golondrina and Ucaima. Then, after a short hike, you will have the opportunity to walk behind the curtain of water of the “Sapo” falls and bath there. Overnight at the Canaima Lagoon in rooms with multiple beds. (L/D)

  2. Day 2: Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will be taken on a short hike to the Ucaima port where you will start the boat trip on the Carrao River, the trip will take about 4 hours and ends at the Isla RatĂłn on the base of the Angel Fall on the ChurĂşn River. Sights are breathtaking during this trip. After reaching the riverside we hike up through the jungle to the very base of the Angel falls and you can swim in a natural pool at the bottom. After enjoying in the nature you will return to the island of Raton and to the base camp. (overnight) (B/L/D)

  3. Day 3: Downriver again in the canoe and you will make a stop at the “Pozo de la felicidad” (The happiness pool) for a swim under the waterfall. When you will arrive back at Canaima Village you will have time to buy souvenirs or relax for a while or explore the Canaima lagoon by yourself, before taking the plane back to Ciudad Bolívar. (B/L)

2.- CANAIMA & ANGEL FALLS | VISIT TO THE CANAIMA LAGOON AND PANORAMIC FLIGHT 2D/1N

Length: 2 days and 1 night
Difficulty: Easy - All travelers
This tour takes you to all of the surroundings of the Canaima Lagoon, taking time to visit all of the waterfalls around and having some easy time at the beach and the indigenous community of Canaima. You will also contemplate the mightness of the Angel Falls from the air on a panoramic flight. Having two days gives you a good time frame to chose the right time to go on the panoramic airplane view!
Day to day program: 
  1. Day 1: Early morning departure to Ciudad Bolivar’s airport and flight to the Canaima Lagoon. Upon arrival we will be taken to our lodge where we are meant to spend the night. After taking all necessary thing for the day, we will head to take a refreshing bath over the Lagoon filled up with the torrential waters of the Carrao river. The sights are amazing, pink sand, reddish colored waters (due to the high concentration of minerals) and beautiful waterfalls are right there in front of you. After, we will board a “Curiara” a typical indigenous boat to go on a trip to the base of the waterfalls “Ucaima”, “Golondrina” & “Hacha” so you will come closer to this amazing torrent of waters. After that we will continue towards the Anatoly Island, and hike for about 20 minutes to reach the base of the Sapo Falls. Here a breathtaking experience is awaiting you. A 120 meters long water curtain that you can walk under! The feeling is unique, all of the power of the water of the carrao river passing by. Once you are across the path takes you to the top of the fall, from where you have a great view of the three most emblematic tepuys of the park “Zamuro”, “Venado”, & “Cerbatana” After that we will head back to the camp, dinner and accommodation in rooms for two or more people.   2. Day 2: After breakfast we will head to the airport to board a flight that will take us to the “Devil’s Canyon” Above the Churún River in the Auyan Tepuy table top mountain. Another set of amazing sights is opening up in front of you. You will see the “Carrao River”, “The Churún River”, “The Devil’s Canyon”, “The Wall with a Thousand Columns” ad finally “The Angel Falls” . It’s also a great chance to see the surface of the Auyan Tepuy which is up to 700 Km2. Depending on the flight time you might be either taken back to camp for lunch and then flight back to Ciudad Bolívar or flight back straight to Ciudad Bolivar. (B/L)

3.- CANAIMA & ANGEL FALLS | FULL DAY VISIT TO THE CANAIMA LAGOON AND THE ANGEL FALLS BY PANORAMIC FLIGHT

Yes, if there is no time, we can make it possible in just one day! The following, is an itinerary for those with limited traveling time.
Day to day program: 
  1. Day 1: Early morning departure to Ciudad Bolivar’s airport and flight to the Canaima Lagoon. REMARKS & NOTES:

This tour may change depending on wheather conditions. Best time to visit the region is from May to January.

The Canaima tour can be combined with a visit to the Orinoco Delta (+2-3 days), La Gran Sabana (+3-4 days), Mount Roraima (+5-6 days) or the Caura River (+5 days). Depending on your available time and interests we can help you out desinging a combination of tours, so you’ll get the most out of the region!
